We have all run into people who never seem to have anything good to say. If you say "good morning" they will reply with "what's good about it?". The best thing to do with people like that is to stay as far away as possible. So it seems to be with local talk radio. Rare is the time you will hear any host say anything positive about WNY. I believe WECK would do itself and the community a service if they eliminated the doom and gloomers like Dave Dipietro or the "common sense" guys and put on someone with a positive spin on life here in town. For instance, I listened to Peter Hunt on the "other" station a couple weeks ago interviewing Tom Dee (I hope I spelled that name correctly) about the canalside project. After rattling off a whole bunch of really cool things going on with the project Mr Hunt asked him what the biggest impediment was. I'm paraphrasing here but basically the answer was getting past the negativity. I literally turned to the radio and said out loud, "well who on that station has ever had two good words to say about it?". Anyway, I think having some good things to say about where we live would go a long way. After the initial shock of hearing positive radio, I think people would gradually gravitate this way.
